Governor Ortom orders immediate payment of N30,000 minimum wage in Benue

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday ordered immediate commencement of the N30,000 per month minimum wage. The governor after a meeting with the Organised Labour in Makurdi on Tuesday, directed the Head of Service in Benue State to immediately commence implementation of the interim agreement the state government had with leaders of organized labour on the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to civil servants on grade levels one to six.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Terver Akase, in a statement on Tuesday disclosed that Governor Ortom met with labour leaders on Tuesday to commend them for their understanding, as well as reaffirming his commitment to implement the minimum wage agreement.

According to the CPS, Governor Ortom assured Benue workers that his administration will continue to give priority to workers welfare in addition to promoting  the development of the state.
