Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has reinstated the boarding status of 15 girls’ secondary schools, reversing a previous decision by his predecessor. Yusuf expressed his disappointment with the de-boarding, stating that it had hindered the academic progress of many female students.

Yusuf expressed his disappointment with the previous administration’s move, stating that it had hindered the academic progress of many promising female students.
During a surprise inspection visit to Government Girls Secondary School, Albasu, the governor emphasized the importance of restoring boarding facilities to these schools.
Rehabilitation work has already begun on the re-boarded schools, and they are expected to resume academic activities at the start of the next school calendar.
To enhance the quality of education, Governor Yusuf has directed the Ministry of Education to deploy teachers specializing in English, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences to Government Girls Secondary School, Albasu.
The governor’s administration is committed to improving education in Kano State by building and rehabilitating classrooms, providing furniture, and equipping schools with teaching aids.

Yusuf also reiterated his commitment to fully implementing the components of the state of emergency on education.
In addition to his focus on education, Governor Yusuf inspected the ongoing construction of the Albasu 5-kilometer road, which is nearing completion.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress made and urged the contractor to expedite the remaining work.
