Kano Governor dissolves local government caretakers
The unexpected dissolution of the local government caretaker chairmen in Kano State has sparked reactions from various stakeholders. Some have expressed support for the governor’s decision
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has abruptly dissolved the caretaker chairmen of all 44 local government areas in the state, effective immediately.
The decision comes just a week after the state House of Assembly approved a two-month extension to the caretaker chairmen’s tenure, which was originally set to expire on September 8.
The extension was intended to maintain continuity in local governance while preparations for the upcoming local government elections were underway.
The local government elections are now scheduled to take place on October 26.
