Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has officially reopened the Kano State Informatics Institute in Kura after an eight-year closure.
The reopening ceremony saw 250 students receive their letters of admission to commence academic activities immediately.
Governor Yusuf emphasized his commitment to revitalizing educational institutions in the state, especially those that were shut down by the previous administration.
He highlighted the institute’s original mission, established by former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to train youth in information technology.
“Many graduates of this institution have excelled in their careers, securing positions in various ministries, companies, and organizations, not only in Kano State but also globally,” Governor Yusuf said.
“The institute is key to our vision of advancing a digital economy in Kano.”
The Governor further noted that reopening the institute aligns with his administration’s broader goals to enhance the state’s digital economy and provide students with the skills needed to compete in the fast-evolving tech landscape.
The Director of the institute, Mutassim Uba Adamu, praised the reopening and outlined plans to secure higher academic accreditation and launch additional programs such as an adult literacy initiative.
