Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Talay Riley stabbed to death in UK
British-Nigerian singer and songwriter Talay Riley has been reported dead after being stabbed in East London, United Kingdom. He was 35 years old, Talay Riley, whose real name was Mark Yinka Orabiyi, was a Grammy-winning and multi-platinum-selling songwriter who worked with several international music stars during his career.
According to reports, the attack happened around 9 a.m. on Friday on Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown, East London, Emergency services rushed to the scene and tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead shortly after. Police have launched a murder investigation into the incident.

In a statement, Riley’s family confirmed his death and expressed deep sadness over the loss. “It is with overwhelming sadness that we confirm that Mark ‘Yinka’ Orabiyi, professionally known as Talay Riley, passed away yesterday morning,” the family said.
They described him as an exceptionally talented musician whose work earned global recognition. The family also said he would be remembered by loved ones for his humour, kindness, generosity, and strong presence.
“Talay will be remembered publicly for his incredible talent as a Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum-selling songwriter and artist. For those who knew and loved him personally, it is his humour, generous spirit, and unmistakable presence that will be missed the most,” the statement added.
The family thanked fans, friends, and fellow musicians for their support and tributes during this difficult time.
Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing are continuing.
