Rasmus Hojlund was ‘assulted’ by teammate Casemiro after his shirt was grabbed shortly after his introduction. The gesture was however the Brazilian’s way of approving the young striker’s arrival. United fans were left delighted on social media by the incident.

The Dane played his first United appearance following his £72million summer arrival from Atlanta. The young striker’s first-team introduction was however delayed due to a back issue.

Hojlund finally had his chance at the Emirates when he replaced Anthony Martial after 67 minutes. He provided a good account of himself with Erik ten Hag convinced he should have been awarded a penalty.

The new United star revealed Casemiro told him he was ‘pleasantly surprised’ with his efforts against the Gunners.

‘He just says something in Spanish: “vamos” or something like that,’ Hojlund told his national press, with the Denmark squad ahead of San Marino and Finland.

‘He was happy that I gave the team perhaps a slightly different dynamic than what you get from Martial.

Hojlund finally made his Man United debut against Arsenal last Sunday

‘He’s maybe a little more technically strong and looks down the gaps where I like to take the fights. After all, he hasn’t seen me play before, so he told me he was pleasantly surprised to see me play.’

The 20-year-old showed early glimpses of his high intensity levels and strength on Sunday. He was seen immediately throwing himself into physical battles with Arsenal defenders.

Hojlund was also involved in Alejandro Garnacho’s goal that was ruled out for offside. He had combined with Casemiro to free the Argentine youngster on the counter attack.

United fell to a 3-1 defeat after injury time goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus. However, United legend Gary Neville was encouraged by Hojlund’s immediate impact.
