How a drug addict set his mum ablaze in Minna
Drug addiction has been a menace ravaging the country despite the tireless efforts of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). Those who indulge in this act usually commit atrocities – a recent report revealed how Steven Jiya, a drug addict killed his mother, Comfort Jiya, who was the former Principal of Government Girls Secondary School Sabon Wuse and Maryam Abacha Girls Science School Minna.
The sad event happened in Darusalam area of Minna after the culprit returned from Suleja.
He poured petrol on his mum and set her ablaze, while she was in the kitchen. The victim lost her life at the Minna General Hospital where she was receiving treatment. Sources revealed that the drug addict has attempted to harm his mum on several occasions in the past.
With the way mothers show love to their kids, it is saddening to see someone kill his mum in such a gruesome manner. In my opinion, the culprit might have been suffering from schizophrenia – persons suffering from such psychotic illness usually act aggressively as a result of excessive drug consumption.
