Husband, relatives organise lying-in-state for late wife’s remains with eyes, tongue, other organs harvested
Late Comfort Biakpara remains were brought to her family compound at Ogbe Ani, Aniocha, in Delta without eyes, tongues, and other organs, and the widower and her family now in trouble.
The removal of the organs was detected during lying in state.
According to witnesses, her relatives were paying her the last respect when they discovered wool was stuffed in her sockets.
That sparked up a protest. While that was going on, further checks revealed her tongue and others were no longer there.
The widower, from Burutu, same state, and his relatives who brought the corpse had no explanation, and would rather abandon their late wife and take off as the community youth disrupted the process.
The remains have been dumped in a morgue for now.
