The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has charged journalists on balanced reportage as he congratulated the new President of Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), Olalekan Olabulor of the Tribune Newspaper and other elected Executive members.

This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relationship Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that CRAN general election was held on Friday at Mike Okiro’s Press Centre, GRA Ikeja, where seven new officials were elected.
Amongst those elected include Olabulor as President, Evelyn Usman of Vanguard as Vice President, Niran Odufyo of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria as Secretary and Chiemele Ezeobi of Thisday as Treasurer.
Others were Adah Obiachina of NTA as Assistant Secretary, Ismaila Oguntade of Leadership Newspapers as Financial Secretary and Taiwo Jimoh of New Telegraph Newspapers as PRO/ Auditor.
The I-G noted that the new officials were individuals who had dignified and distinguished themselves in their various media fora.
He said the election was recognition of their years of selfless service and commitment to values.
He equally appreciated the outgoing officials led by the immediate past president, Sunday Odita, of the Guardian Newspaper, for their labour at maintaining a friendly mien while carrying out their statutory responsibilities.
Baba assured that his administration would leave no stone unturned in the fight against crimes and criminality in the country.
He urged the new officials to work collectively and closely with the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring a balanced reportage.
The I-G said that the Force would continue to collaborate with CRAN for a safe, secured and peaceful country.
