IGP Egbetokun overhauls Police leadership, reassigns commissioners in key States
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Commissioners of Police in Rivers, Delta, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to enhance the effectiveness of the Police Force.
In this reshuffle, CP Olatunji Disu from Rivers Command will take over as the new CP for FCT, while CP Abaniwonda Olufemi will assume command in Rivers. CP Peter Opara, previously in FCT, will now lead the Delta State Command.
A statement released on Thursday by Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi noted, “Following the approval of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police has also deployed four (4) CPs as Commissioners of Police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom State Commands.”

The new assignments include CP Danladi Nda to Abia, CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale to Lagos, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya to Ebonyi, and CP Festus Eribo to Akwa-Ibom.
The IGP emphasized that these strategic placements aim to “reposition the Police Force and ensure maximum utilization of human resources available to the Force.”
He urged the newly appointed CPs to diligently fulfill their duties and adopt innovative strategies to address security challenges in their jurisdictions. Egbetokun also encouraged them to engage with the police reform plans, which are designed to enhance the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force and contribute to national growth
