PDP urges INEC, Police to ensure credible governorship poll in Edo, warns against rigging
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigerian Police to guarantee a free, fair, and credible governorship election in Edo State.
During a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, emphasized the importance of transparency in the electoral process.
Ologunagba urged INEC to ensure that all election result sheets are countersigned by both the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) and the National Commissioner overseeing the zone to prevent tampering.

He called for these sheets to be signed when election materials are distributed to local governments, wards, and polling units, stressing that this measure is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the election.
The PDP also issued a stern warning, making it clear that both the party and the people of Edo State would not tolerate any form of electoral malpractice.
“The PDP and millions of its supporters are fully prepared for the election and optimistic of victory,” Ologunagba asserted.
He also advised voters to be vigilant, encouraging them to remain peaceful while safeguarding their votes. After voting, Ologunagba urged voters to ensure their votes are counted and results uploaded electronically before leaving the polling stations.
In his statement, Ologunagba called on President Bola Tinubu to direct INEC and the police to uphold the integrity of the election process, ensuring that the Edo governorship election is conducted transparently and fairly.
