Insecurity: ALGON President canvasses support for Gov. Sani Bello from members
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has urged its members in Niger, to continue to support the efforts of Gov. Sani Bello at curbing insecurity in the state.
Mr Kolade Alabi, ALGON National President, made the call in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Obiora Orji, on Wednesday, in Abuja.
Orji said the president made the call when he paid a solidarity visit to the state governor.
Alabi said the visit to the governor, the LGAs and Councils’ counterparts came on the heels of incessant kidnapping and banditry in the state, explaining that as colleagues in grassroots administration, it was justifiable to identify with their brothers and their constituents.
The president commended Bello’s during these challenging times, as well as the doggedness of the 27 local governments area chairmen and councilors of the state.
He also appreciated the Nigeria Governor’s Forum for their united efforts in the fight against insecurity, while stressing the need for state police, saying that this critical institution could not have come at a better time than now.
He said that state police would help in the collective fight against banditry, insurgents and general insecurity across the country.
Earlier, the ALGON Chairman in the state, Mr Ibrahim Bosso, described Alabi as a true grassroots leader and pledged unflinching support to his administration.
In attendance were the Chief of Staff to the ALGON National President, Itiako Ikpokpo; the Secretary General, Hajia Binta Bello, Nasarawa state ALGON Chairman Alhaji Mai Fata Aminu; Jigawa ALGON Chairman, Aminu Gumel.
