Just in; Peter Obi reportedly attacked as suspected thugs block entry into Benue [VIDEO]
The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Development Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, was reportedly attacked in Benue State after suspected thugs allegedly blocked his entry into the state.
The incident reportedly occurred as Obi and members of his entourage attempted to gain access to the state, with a group of suspected thugs said to have mobilised to prevent the politician from proceeding.
A video seen by this publication and reportedly shared by Obi’s photographer showed a large number of men wielding various weapons as they confronted the convoy.
The incident was disclosed by Obi’s media aide, Esther Umoh, who shared a video on her X handle showing the blocked route.

According to Umoh, the incident occurred shortly after Obi and his entourage arrived in Benue State.
“We have just arrived in Benue State, where alleged sponsored thugs have blocked Boko Road by the Air Force Base, attempting to prevent Peter Obi from gaining access into the state,” she wrote.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, including the identities of those involved and the reason for the reported attempt to stop Obi from entering the state.
There were also reports that some vehicles in the politician’s convoy were vandalised during the confrontation.
As of the time of filing, it could not be independently confirmed whether Obi sustained any injury in the incident.
Further details, including the response of security agencies and the circumstances leading to the confrontation, were still being awaited.
