Kano Man, 30, arrested for allegedly killing grandparents in food dispute
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, over the alleged killing of his grandparents during a violent altercation linked to a food-related disagreement.
The victims, Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and his wife, Hadiza Tasidi, 65, were attacked on Thursday at their residence, sustaining multiple stab wounds in different parts of their bodies.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement issued in Kano, said the suspect reportedly used a knife on both victims during the quarrel, leaving them with life-threatening injuries.

“The victims were immediately rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel confirmed them dead,” Kiyawa said. “Their bodies were examined and later released to their relatives for burial in line with Islamic rites.”
He further disclosed that Ibrahim, believed to have been under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the incident, has been taken into custody.
According to the statement, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for thorough investigation.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Kiyawa added.
The tragic incident has shocked residents of Kano, raising fresh concerns about the impact of substance abuse and domestic conflicts escalating into violence within family settings.
