Kidnapped Nasarawa LG Chairman regains freedom from bandits’ custody, police arrest 3
The Chairman of Keffi Local Government, Nasarawa State, Muhammed Baba Shehu, kidnapped by bandits on Friday regained freedom, the police revealed on Sunday. According to the police, Baba Shehu and his aide were rescued in the early hours of Sunday, as a combined team of security operatives sustained a manhunt of the kidnappers.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State, Rahman Nansel, was gathered to have narrated that three suspects were arrested by the police in the search and rescue operation. The arrested suspects, according to the PPRO, assigned by the kidnapping gang to collect ransom for the release of the kidnapped victims from their emissary, were ambushed by the security operatives. They were said to be assisting the police in the investigation into the abduction.
The kidnappers had blocked the Akwanga/Keffi road on Friday night, firing gunshots during the operations, shooting the security side of the Chairman before effecting the kidnap. The security aide, Alhassan Habeeb, died afterwards and has been buried according to Muslim rites.
