Lagos 2023: Disquiet looms in APC as Tinubu solely endorses Sanwo-Olu for second term
There are emerging indications of looming disquiet in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) as the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, solely endorsed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the governorship ticket of the party in the state for a second term. Some other party leaders, who are not members of the Mandate group led by Tinubu in the Lagos APC, were said to be dissatisfied with the sole endorsement of Sanwo-Olu by Tinubu. They were gathered to be angry that they were not consulted, in the first instance, neither were there fora for negotiation of the 2023 governorship ticket of the state APC.
Some of the APC stakeholders who belong to the Justice Group which aggregates the political interests of the Minister of Works and Housing, former Governor Babatunde Fashola, the current deputy governor, Femi Hamzat, among others, were gathered to be consulting on the endorsement.

Others like the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Muiz Banire, were yet to respond. A source said that they are not likely to give up their own political agenda for the 2023 elections, essentially, Rt. Hon. Gbajabiamila who was insinuated to be warming up for the Lagos State governorship election in 2023.
It was disclosed that Tinubu had ordered members of the APC Governing Advisory Council (GAC) in Lagos State to adopt Sanwo-Olu and join in mobilizing for his second term re-election campaign.

As is the political tradition, Sanwo-Olu is expected storm the Eagle Square, Abuja, venue of the APC national convention with his supporters displaying campaign placards for his re-election. Other aspirants, even outside Lagos, may be doing same.
Some party stakeholders have expressed concerns that should Lagos APC succumb to Tinubu’s imposition for second term, they party may have external forces of the ghosts of #EndSARS to contend with in the elections.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been made on the perceived endorsement either by Tinubu or Sanwo-Olu.
