LAWMA takes sustainable environment education to Otto Primary School
- donates sportswear to pupils
The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental education and sustainability by sensitizing the pupils of Otto Primary School, Lagos Mainland, on the benefits of recycling.
Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, who recently visited the school, emphasised the importance of instilling environmental sustainability consciousness into the younger generation, adding that LAWMA was working to promote proper waste management culture across schools in the state.
He said, “LAWMA’s commitment to environmental education extends beyond Otto Primary School. We are promoting responsible waste management practices across schools in the state, to build a future that we will be proud of. The Authority is also stepping up its program to educate residents on waste reduction, recycling, and proper waste disposal.
Through these initiatives, LAWMA is playing a critical role in shaping a more sustainable future for Lagos and its residents. By engaging with young people and providing them with the knowledge and resources they need, we are empowering them to be responsible environmental stewards and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment”.
LAWMA also presented sportswear to pupils of various sport houses of Otto Primary School, towards their forthcoming inter-house sports competition.
Executive Director of LAWMA, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, who made the presentation on behalf of the Managing Director, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, charged the pupils to excel in sporting activities, as they went about their academic pursuits.
Responding, the headmistress of the school, Mrs. Adeniyi Rachael, thanked LAWMA and the State Government for the good gesture.
In attendance were the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Ms. Ranti Dosunmu; Director, Advocacy, Mr. Adewunmi Adetona; Director LAWMA Academy, Training & Development, Mrs. Bola Adewunmi and others.
