LG Election: Group tasks LASIEC to nullify APC chairmanship candidate in Oshodi

An NGO under aegis of Centre For Policy and Good Governance (CPGG) has asked the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to nullify the candidature of Kehinde Oloyede- Almaroof of the APC in Oshodi Local Government, citing grave concerns over his Eligibility.

In a petition signed by the CPGG Director, Media & Publicity Mr. Ola Ogunbona,the group queries the eligibility of Oloyede to contend for the position owing to some allegedly falsified documents he availed the electoral umpires.

The petition titled, “Call For The Nullification Of Mr. Kehinde Adeola Hussein Oloyede- Almaroof As The Apc Candidate In The Forthcoming Local Government Elections In Line With Section 25a Sub (1)&(2) Of Lasiec Law”, read in part:

1. The Said Oloyede is NOT Fit and Proper to Contest the Party’s Primary Election, as he Falsified his Age to read 18th of December, 1966 where in he was born on the 18th of December, 1972.
2. His Elder Brother Olusola Kehinde Odeyemi of the same mother was born on the 8th of July 1966, attached to this Petition is the Copy of the NIN of the Said Kehinde Olusola and Kehinde Adeola for your Perusal.

2. That Alhaja Taiyelolu Almaroof gave birth to twins twice, 1966 and 1972 respectively
3. Kehinde Adeola Almaroof, the Current Chairman of Oshodi Local Government was born on the 18th of December, 1972, while Kehinde Olusola was born on the 18th of July, 1966.
4. Based on the proof of the NIN, it has shown and Proved that the Executive Chairman and the Candidate of the APC in the Forthcoming Local Government Elections Falsified his Age.
5. It is Pertinent to note that the Said Candidate had Previously Falsified his age to meet up the requirements in the 2003 House of Representatives Election, and now wants to arm-twist the other Aspirants who have Credible and Genuine Documents for the Election.

We have sufficient grounds on the issue of Age Falsification, Certificate Forgery and Perjury to disqualify the Candidacy of Mr. Kehinde Adeola Oloyede-Almaroof

In Pursuant to Section 25A Sub (1)&(2) of the LASIEC Law, it States that :
a. Section 25A(1) of the LASIEC Law States as Follows:
“As From the Commencement of this Law, no Political Party Shall Submit an unqualified Candidate to the Commission for Election “.
b. (2) “Any Political Party that Contravenes the Provision of Sub Section (1) above shall be liable to a fine of Ten Million Naira (10,000,000:00) and shall forfeit the Opportunity to submit a replacement”.

In Pursuant of the above Stated. Law, we request for the disqualification of the Said Mr. Kehinde Adeola Hussein Oloyede-Almaroof as the APC Candidate in the Forthcoming Local Government Elections.

In Conclusion, the Integrity of our Local Government Electoral Process depends on the honesty and Transparency of Candidates.

We urge the Concerned Leaders and Stakeholders for Prompt attention to this matter to uphold the Principles of Democracy.
