Man 35, football fan shot to death in Brazil as Chelsea defeat Palmeiras 2-1 on Club World Cup
Tragedy struck in Brazil when a man, 35 years of age was shot to death in Sao Paulo as football fans engaged in a violent fight as Chelsea defeated Palmeiras of Brazil in the Club World Cup final on Saturday.
Police authorities in Brazil disclosed that pandemonium broke out at a viewing centre outside Allianz Parque, the Palmeiras stadium, when fans and supporters of the Brazilian Cup became angry over the 2-1 defeat of Palmeiras by Chelsea in the final of the Club World Club in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Local media in Brazil revealed that a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest, which led to his death.
Fans and supporters of Palmeiras were filled with enthusiasm that their team would be victorious over the English team, Chelsea, in the final game. The optimism was high that families came out with their children to the centre. Dissatisfied with the resultant loss, the fans went on rampage, started throwing stones and other projectiles.
It was gathered that the fracas persisted till the police intervened to restore normalcy before the violence spread to other parts of the city.
