The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, Gbolahan Adebayo, for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend to death at Ijedodo, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State.
According to reports, the tragic incident occurred during the victim’s visit to Adebayo’s residence on Friday night.
A neighbour, identified simply as Akin, revealed that he heard the 25-year-old woman screaming for help around midnight as she was being beaten.

The cries reportedly continued intermittently for about an hour before they suddenly stopped.
By morning, Adebayo allegedly raised an alarm after discovering that his girlfriend was unresponsive.
However, it was a concerned neighbour who later reported the case to the Isheri-Oshun Police Division on Sunday.
Police sources disclosed that the victim was rushed to a hospital in Ijegun, where doctors confirmed that she had died from injuries sustained during the attack.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that visible marks of violence were found on the deceased’s body.
Her remains have been deposited at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) morgue in Yaba for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, Adebayo has been taken into custody as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
