Man arrested for allegedly preventing police from searching his car.
A 31-year-old man, Fatona Taiwo, was on Friday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly preventing police officers from searching his car.
Taiwo, who pleaded not guilty is charged with preventing officers from performing lawful duty and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
The Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Philip Amusan, told the court that Taiwo on Feb. 17, at about 9 a.m, by the MOPOL gate, Ibadan, stopped Insp Amos Iluogbe and his team from searching his car.
He said that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by preventing the officers from carrying our their lawful duty.
He said the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 197 and 249(D) of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 11 for hearing.
