Man City’s Rodri breaks Premier League 16-year jinx, clinches 2024 Ballon d’Or
Manchester City’s midfield dynamo, Rodri Hernandez, has won the 2024 Ballon d’Or, cementing his place as the best men’s player globally in a ceremony held at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris.
The Spanish playmaker triumphed over Real Madrid contenders Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Dani Carvajal to claim his first-ever Ballon d’Or, becoming the first English Premier League (EPL) player to receive the honor since Cristiano Ronaldo’s 2008 win.
Rodri’s win highlights his exceptional season, where he was pivotal in Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title and FA Cup victory.
Notably, Rodri set a remarkable record of playing 74 straight games without defeat. His influence extended beyond club football as he was instrumental in Spain’s victory at the 2024 European Championship, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
