Man docked for flogging IKEDC official
A 44-year-old man, Jimmy George, who allegedly flogged an Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) official with a stick, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The defendant, who resides at Gowon Estate, Egbeda, Lagos, is facing a charge of assault.
George, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
The Prosecutor, ASP Peter Nwangwu, told the court that George committed the offence on May 27, at his residence.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully assaulted the IKEDC official, Mr Omoregbe Lamwenma, while discharging his lawful duty.

“The complainant said that the defendant had refused to pay his electricity bills and when he tried to cut off their power supply, the defendant started flogging him with a stick.
” Lamwenma reported the case to the police and George was arrested for questioning, “Nwangwu said.
The Prosecutor noted that the offence contravened the provision of Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
Sections 173 prescribes three years imprisonment for assault occasioning harm.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Y.O Aje-Afunwa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the case was fixed for Aug. 8.
