Midnight attack on Kaduna community leaves 25 feared dead, several injured
No fewer than 25 people are feared to have been killed after gunmen suspected to be terrorists launched a deadly midnight attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The attack reportedly occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, when the assailants stormed the rural community while residents were asleep, unleashing indiscriminate gunfire and causing widespread panic.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers, believed to be suspected armed Fulani militants, invaded the village without warning, forcing frightened residents to flee into nearby bushes in a desperate attempt to escape the assault.
Local sources said at least 25 people were feared dead, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries. However, the exact casualty figure has yet to be officially confirmed by security agencies or the Kaduna State Government.
The attack has plunged the community into grief, with families searching for missing relatives as local volunteers and security personnel commenced rescue and recovery operations.
Residents described the incident as one of the deadliest attacks on the community in recent times, lamenting the continued wave of insecurity affecting rural settlements in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force, military authorities and other security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The latest assault adds to the persistent security challenges confronting communities in Southern Kaduna, where recurring attacks by armed groups have resulted in the loss of lives, displacement of residents and destruction of homes and other property.
Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations continue and efforts are intensified to track down those responsible for the attack.
