Operation HADIN KAI arrests wanted soldier over alleged supply of military equipment to terrorists

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a soldier declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over allegations of supplying military accoutrements to terrorists and other criminal elements.

The suspect, identified as Private Mohammed Yusuf (service number 23NA/84/1939) of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory in Lagos, was apprehended by troops of the 7 Provost Group at about 6:30 p.m. on July 25, 2026, following credible intelligence.

According to the military, Yusuf had been declared wanted by the Nigerian Army on July 23, 2026, over allegations of illegally supplying military equipment to terrorist groups and other criminal networks.

He was arrested at Jidari Bus Stop in Maiduguri, Borno State, while allegedly attempting to flee to the Republic of Cameroon.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier had allegedly absconded from his unit on July 7, 2026, before relocating to Maiduguri, where he reportedly went into hiding in the Gomari Costain area of Jere Local Government Area with the assistance of an associate.

Military authorities said the arrest was made through intelligence-led operations, describing it as a demonstration of the Nigerian Army’s commitment to dismantling criminal support networks and ensuring accountability within its ranks.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the 7 Provost Group, where further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of his alleged activities and identify any accomplices.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated that there would be no safe haven for individuals found to be supporting terrorism or other forms of criminality, regardless of their status.

The military also reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, discipline and integrity in the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign, while urging members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and security in the North-East.
