Dele Momodu has joined the PDP after many years of slagging off the party, and it’s no crime except the vanity editor contradicts himself now to convince Nigerians he made a good decision.
Momodu, who first joined the NCP to contest—and lose— the presidency in 2011, in a statement on Friday said he joined PDP after wide consultation and the drive to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.
“And it is clear to me that given the dangerous and disastrous drift that our nation has experienced in the past six years, the only party from which amends can be made to rectify our situation is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he said.
“This accords with my vehement opposition to the policies and practices of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its leadership, which has denuded our country of everything we hold dear – national unity, cohesion, security, economic prosperity, educational advancement, social infrastructure, and above all, our cherished moral values.
Considering his past, Momodu might not be exactly honest concerning the PDP politics aligning with his own.
In the past, Momodu in his columns regularly discredited the party.
“The PDP is clearly an incredibly boastful party that has not been able to deliver on any of its many promises in the past 14 years despite the stupendous resources at its disposal which it has merely awarded to itself and its followers,” he wrote in 2013.
He has been saying the same of the ruling APC, eve unto the point of his defection.
“It is deeply saddening and regrettable that some of the biggest and landmark achievements recorded under the PDP administration have been diluted, wasted, or diminished by the present APC government.”
