Officials of the military regime in Niger Republic after a meeting, denied a United States diplomat, Victoria Nuland, access to hold further meetings with ousted President Mohamed Bazoum and the head of the military government, General Abdourahamane Tchiani.

The number two acting US diplomat, Victoria Nuland, at a meeting in Niamey with the coup leaders in Niger, had extensive deliberations with Brigadier General Moussa Salaou Barmou, the new Chief of Staff of the Army, and other military officials.

According to her, “these discussions have been extremely frank and at quite difficult times.”

Victoria Nuland, however, decried that after the meeting with Brigadier General Moussa Salaou Barmou, the Chief of Staff of the Niger Army, and other officials, she could not talk to either the ruling military chief, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, or toppled President Mohamed Bazoum.

The US diplomat disclosed that she offered “many options” to end the coup, including the “good offices” of the United States “if there was a desire on the part of those responsible for a return to constitutional order.”

She painstakingly declared: “I would not say that this offer was taken in” matters some how.”I hope they keep the door open to diplomacy.
” We made them this proposal.
“We’ll see well.”

Victoria Nulan maintained that General Barmou was much aware of the cooperation between Niger and the United States because of his past commitment to the special forces.”
