He noted that the program, which targets extending internet access to over 140 million Nigerians, has already achieved a 70 percent success rate.
“NCC is undoubtedly facilitating and fast-tracking the accessibility of Nigerians to internet connection which, based on the latest information, has now reached about 70% penetration,” Senator Lado stated.
He emphasized that greater internet access is a vital catalyst for economic growth and a critical driver for the realization of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to him, connecting more Nigerians to the internet will open up new opportunities for innovation, education, and commerce, strengthening the nation’s economic resilience.
In addition, Senator Lado called for deeper collaboration between the NCC and the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.
He proposed a structured partnership to streamline operations and enhance the Commission’s engagements and communications with the various National Assembly committees that oversee its activities.
The meeting underscored the Tinubu administration’s commitment to expanding Nigeria’s digital economy and reaffirmed the pivotal role the NCC continues to play in bridging the country’s connectivity gap.
