NSCDC nabs 188 pipeline vandals in Abia

IN an effort to protect oil pipeline Abia State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp says it has apprehended 188 suspects for involving in oil pipeline vandalization from July to Dec last year.
The Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Abia State Command Dr Benito Eze who disclosed this while speaking with National Daily in Umuahia said 26 of the number has been charged to court while 3 of them has been convicted to prison by Umuahia Federal High Court.
According to the NSCDC boss Abia command has established three quick response out posts in the state to curb the menace of oil pipeline vandals, pointing out that the three quick response out post are located at Obehie in Ukwa West local Government Area,Okpualangwa junction, and Isiukwuato in addition to the patrol by his men to ensure that government installations are secured.
Dr Eze said that the command has been organizing sensitization programme with traditional rulers of oil producing communities as to help in protecting government facilities located in their domain and called on members of the public to give useful information to enable the command secure their areas.
He also warned youths to desist from tampering with oil pipeline as the federal government will not take it lightly with any body found braking oil pipeline adding that it belongs to the Federal Government and that any attempt to vandalize it will mean sabotaging the economy of the state and the nation
