‘Obidients’ chase Oshiomhole, other APC chieftains from campaign ground in Benin
Presidential campaign train of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Edo state, met stiff resistance from supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, on Thursday in Benin, the state capital.
The APC campaign team, ably led by a former two-time Governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was chased out of Ring Road, the venue of the rally by a huge crowd who apparently were supporters of the LP candidate.
Oshiomhole who is the Edo North senatorial candidate in the 25 February general election, was in company of other chieftains of the party, including the Edo South senatorial candidate of the party, Valentine Asuen.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, as soon as Oshiomhole and his team alighted from their branded vehicles and mounted the podium, the surging crowd, otherwise known as ‘Obedients’, started chanting Obi! Obi! Obi non-stop.
Not even the continuous waving of hands by the former national chairman of the APC could deter the crowd from their song of Obi, as they thoroughly disgraced them out of the campaign ground.
The thoroughly embarrassed Oshiomhole and his entourage who appeared defeated and confused were immediately assisted down from the podium and into their respective vehicles by security operatives.
The convoy immediately drove out of the campaign ground and zoomed off.
It could be recalled that Oshiomhole had in 2022, described the ‘Obidient Movement’ as four persons tweeting from one room apartment.
