Opeyori loses opening Badminton match at Paris Olympics
Nigeria’s badminton hope, Anuoluwapo Opeyori, suffered a disappointing start to his Paris 2024 Olympics campaign, losing to Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi in straight sets.
Despite a closely contested first set, Opeyori was unable to overcome his opponent, who clinched the match 2-0.
The defeat puts Opeyori in a difficult position as he faces world number six Li Shifeng in his final group match.
Meanwhile, the Super Falcons will battle Japan today in a must-win encounter to keep their Olympic dream alive.
