Osadolor faults Tinubu over Fubara suspension, demands apology
The Deputy National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has faulted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the suspension of Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara, describing the move as unconstitutional and a threat to Nigeria’s democratic order.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Osadolor accused the President of exceeding his constitutional limits by declaring emergency rule in Rivers State and unilaterally suspending the sitting governor.
According to him, Tinubu’s action undermines the principle of separation of powers enshrined in Nigeria’s Constitution and sets a worrisome precedent that could erode democratic governance.

“Yes, I think the President is overreaching when I read the last paragraph of his speech, where he spoke to governors as if he were a headmaster in a classroom,” Osadolor said.
He further insisted that President Tinubu should tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians and to Governor Fubara, stressing that no provision in the Constitution empowers the President to suspend a democratically elected governor.
“The President should apologise. I felt he should understand fully well that there is a clear division of powers,” he added.
Osadolor urged democratic institutions and civil society groups to remain vigilant in protecting constitutional democracy from what he described as executive overreach.
