Oseni expresses concern over Okowo’s pension payment issues
A leading Nigerian journalist, Rufai Oseni, has reacted to the protest by pensioners in Delta State after the revelations over the 13% derivation emerged.
Speaking on VOP, Oseni expressed concern that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is asking for people’s votes despite unresolved pension payment issues in his state.
Addressing the topic, Oseni said, “This is the scorecard of the PDP vice presidential candidate.” I think the incident reflects many of the things wrong with our politics. A governor of a state with so many resources like Delta is owing. I recall that his commissioner claimed that they were not owing salaries.
“The sane governor will claim that he has done well in Delta State despite owing. I think the PDP should tell the governor to sort out his problems in Delta State before he returns to the campaign train.
He continued, “I am not sure that he currently has time to address the concerns of the protesting pensioners in Delta State since he is busy campaigning.” What is he campaigning to do? He claims to have paid wages, but pensioners are still protesting in the state.
