Osun lawmaker Taofeek Ajilesoro resigns from PDP amidst “Persistent Internal Conflicts”
In a fresh blow to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Honourable Taofeek Ajilesoro, representing Ife Federal Constituency, has announced his resignation from the party, citing insurmountable internal crises and a “pervasive culture of legal disputes.”
The political landscape of Osun State witnessed another significant shift today as Honourable Taofeek Ajilesoro, the serving member for Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His decision, effective immediately, was communicated via a letter dated July 22, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman of Ilare Ward II in Ife Central Local Government Area.
The resignation letter, obtained in Osogbo on Wednesday, laid bare the reasons behind Ajilesoro’s exit.
He cited “persistent internal conflicts, deep-seated divisions, and the pervasive culture of legal disputes” as key factors that made it “increasingly challenging for me to reconcile my continued membership with my personal convictions and aspirations for effective governance.”

The lawmaker extended his gratitude for the opportunity to have served within the party, expressing hope that his resignation would be accepted in the spirit it was given.
Ajilesoro’s departure is not an isolated incident. He joins a growing list of prominent PDP lawmakers from Osun State who have recently left the party.
Among them are Wole Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, as well as Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central).
This series of defections is particularly striking given the PDP’s dominant performance in Osun State during the 2023 general elections.
The party had secured all three senatorial seats, all nine House of Representatives seats, and 25 out of 26 seats in the Osun State House of Assembly, making these recent exits a notable development.
