Painter jailed 1 month for stealing phone worth N10,000
An Area Court in Jos on Wednesday sentenced a 19-year-old painter, Chollom Stephen, to one-month imprisonment for stealing an Itel Phone worth N10,000.
Delivering judgment, Magistrates Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, sentenced Stephen following a guilty plea.
The panel sentenced Stephen without an option of a fine.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Monday Dabit told the court that the complainant, Joseph Onoja of Zarmaganda street Jos, reported the matter at the Anglo-Jos Police station on June 13 .
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant snatched the itel phone from Onoja and ran away with it. Dabit said the offense contravened the provisions of sections 239 and 272 of Plateau Penal Code Law.
