Panic in Ekiti as students flee school following reported bandit sightings (Video)
There was panic in parts of Ekiti State on Friday after students of Ayetoro/Iloro High School reportedly fled their classrooms and school premises over alleged sightings of suspected armed bandits in the area.
Witnesses said hundreds of students were seen running along nearby roads in fear after reports spread that suspected Fulani bandits had been spotted close to the community, triggering tension and confusion within the school environment.
The situation reportedly escalated rapidly as frightened students abandoned classes and rushed out of the premises in search of safety, while residents and passersby also expressed concern over the security alert.

According to reports, school authorities immediately directed students to return home as a precautionary measure amid fears of a possible attack. The decision was said to have been taken to prevent panic from worsening and to ensure the safety of students and staff.
A police patrol vehicle was reportedly deployed to the area as security operatives responded to the distress situation. The patrol team was also said to have assisted in evacuating some students from the scene during the tense moments.
The reported sighting sparked widespread anxiety among parents and residents, especially given rising concerns over insecurity and attacks linked to armed groups in parts of the country.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had yet to officially confirm whether armed bandits were actually present in the area, but monitoring and patrol activities were said to have been intensified around the community and school environment.
Residents are now calling for increased security presence around schools and rural communities to reassure parents and prevent further panic among students.
