Papilo, My People, zoom to Bet9ja NLO Super 8
Papilo Football Club of Owerri and My People Football Club of Lagos, have booked their place in the semi-finals of Bet9ja Nationwide League One Super 8.
My People defeated Bida Lions Football Club 3-1 to secure a semi-final spot, while Papilo having defeated Bida Lions 2-1 on Tuesday have booked a spot in the semi finals.
A resilient team effort was required from My People to overcome Bida Lions on Wednesday at the Agege Stadium.
My People came from a goal down to secure the maximum points after Alhaji Bello, shot Bida Lions to lead in the 10th minute with a stunning strike.
Leonard Okeke, scored a brace from the spot, and Chigozie Chukwu goal, to ensure the Synagogue side advanced to the semi final.
Bida Lions coach Adamu Gambo, after the game expressed disappointment at the fact that his was unable to progress to the semi finals.
“I’m so disappointed that we lost all our group matches. My boys really tried but, it was so unfortunate that we were unable to progress to the semi finals.”
My People gaffer, Yusuf Tiamiyu, promised to improve upon the lapses noticed against Bida Lions before the next game.
Papilo and My People have recorded 3 points respectively, while Bida Lions failed to record a point from two games.
My People will be up against Papilo on Thursday, in a contest that will determine which team leads the Group B.
