PDP North East endorses Damagum for National Chairman
PDP North East endorses Damagum for National Chairman, insisting that a Federal High Court, Abuja, restrained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from replacing the Acting National Chairman until he completes the tenure of the former National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.
The PDP in Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Borno, and Yobe states, therefore, endorsed leadership of Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, Acting National Chairman.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, on behalf of the five states, expressed confidence in the leadership of Damagum since he assumed office.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, in a statement on Thursday, indicated that “citing a Federal High Court Abuja restraining order, Governor Fintiri insisted that Damagum should complete the tenure of former National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, unless the court decides otherwise.
According to him, Governor Fintiri commended Damagum for restoring public confidence in the party, urging members to respect the judgement of the court for the interest of the party and democracy.

As North East endorses Damagum, the Governor, described the performance of the PDP in the North East during the 2023 elections as unprecedented at all levels, maintaining that the zone deserves the position of National Chairman more than any section in the North.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had barred the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee, PDP, INEC, and affiliates from replacing, nominating or appointing any Chairman other than Ambassador Damagum, following a restraining order by the Court.
