Police arrest 9 kidnappers, armed robbers
The Police on Wednesday revealed that arrest nine kidnappers, armed robbers and drug peddlers in Jigawa Sate.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Emmanuel Effiom, in Dutse, said that the suspects were arrested between September 20 and October 20, in different parts of the state.
He stated that five of the suspects, aged between 22 and 50, were arrested for alleged kidnapping in Jigawa and neighbouring Kano State.
The CP added that two of the suspects, aged 20 and 25 were arrested for alleged drug peddling, while two others aged 30 and 33 were arrested for alleged armed robbery and car theft.
According to him, one AK47 rifle, one magazine and three cut to size locally made guns were recovered from the suspected kidnappers.
He added that one Honda Civic car and a new Kasea motorcycle were recovered from the suspected armed robbers.
“We recovered 10 and a half bags of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa from the suspected drug peddlers,” he said.
Effiom said that the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
He urged residents of the state to report cases of criminal activities to the nearest security agencies for prompt action.
The CP gave the assurance that confidentiality would be upheld when people give credible information to the police.
