Police arrest suspect for alleged kidnapping, murder in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of a 53-year-old farmer, Henry Ohiengbonmwan.
In a statement on Tuesday in Benin, the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, said the victim was reported missing on May 13. The report was filed four days after Ohiengbonmwan failed to return from his farm in Igueze community, Ovia North East Local Government Area.
“On June 16, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, using technical intelligence, tracked and arrested the suspect, a native of Oron community in Akwa Ibom State,” Yamu stated.

He added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects who are currently at large.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Monday Agbonika, urged business and farm owners to conduct thorough background checks on prospective workers to avoid similar tragedies.
