Police crackdown: Recovers nine pump action rifles, 42 cartridges

Determined to rid Lagos state of criminals, the Anti-Robbery operatives, attached to Area “E” Command Headquarters has recovered nine pump action rifles and 42 cartridges from a motorcyclist.
The weapons were recovered during a routine patrol, along 7th Avenue, Festac Town, around 11:15pm on Saturday.
This is coming barely two weeks after the Area “E” Command had swooped on motorbike riders in the area in compliance with the Lagos State Government restriction law on motorbikes.
According to a police source, “Our policemen were on a routine anti-crime patrol along 7th Avenue, Festac Town, when they sighted one unregistered motor cycle with two passengers, carrying a suspicious bag.
When challenged by the policemen, the men were said to have suddenly abandoned their motorbike and their bag, and took to their heels.
When it was searched, National Daily gathered that 9 Pump action guns and 42 live cartridges were found, Police source hinted.
Further investigations are on-going while patrol had been intensified in the area.
