Pope has not told me I am wrong accepting APC’s campaign DG – Lalong
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State returning to Jos from Abuja on Wednesday berated Christian believers protesting his appointment and acceptance of the Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Organization, a party sponsoring Muslim-Myslim joint presidential ticket. The governor argued that being a Catholic with the highest Papal award, “the Pope has not told me what he is doing is wrong”.
He maintained that as an awardee of Knight of Saint Gregory, he is a staunch Catholic despite his new responsibility to market a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the 2023 general elections.
The Governor said he was elected governor for people of all faiths and non-believers as well, adding that he has respect for his faith as a Christian.
Governor Lalong said that he met with President Muhammad Buhari to thank him for the presidential pardon granted to former Governor of Platau State, Joshua Dariye, and former Governor Jolly Nyame of Taraba State, recently released from prisons.
