Presidency 2023: If not for me, Buhari wouldn’t have become President – Tinubu
The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, an APC presidential aspirant has been spitting fire to whosoever cares to listen over how he made some APC members win elections in 2015 and 2019 in his last-minute mobilization for support for the APC presidential ticket. Tinubu at a mobilization forum in Abeokuta, Ogun State, told Ogun delegates how he made Dapo Abiodun governor in 2019, including how he made President Muhammadu Buhari win the election in 2015 after failing in three attempts, as well as how he sacrificed his chance to nominate Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN to become Vice President.
Tinubu interacting with Ogun APC delegates at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, disclosed that if not for him, President Buhari would not have won the 2015 presidential election, defeating former President Goodluck Jonathan.
Tinubu declared: “If not for me that stood behind Buhari, he wouldn’t have become the President.
“He tried the first time, he failed; the second time, he failed; the third, he failed. Since he became the President, I have never gotten ministerial slots; I didn’t collect any contract, and I have never begged for anything from him. It is the turn of Yoruba; it is my turn.
“He (Buhari) knew all the calculations then favoured us, that is why he wanted me as his vice, but I told him to let us build the party first … I told them that I have a candidate that is a Christian that I can nominate so that the party will not break.
“That was how I nominated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, I surrendered my right to him. I was asked to submit three names – Yemi Cardozo, Wale Edun, and Yemi Osinbajo.”
