Presidency 203: How Tinubu dared Buhari, It’s turn of Yoruba; it’s my turn
The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the final lap of the lobby for the APC presidential ticket for the 2023 elections, has sent a strong message to President Muhammadu Buhari, reminding the president how he made him win election in 2015 after three failed attempts. Tinubu also noted that since Buhari became President he never got any ministerial slot nor contract from the Buhari administration.
The APC national leader, thereafter, at an interaction forum with APC delegates in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, dared President Buhari and APC leaders that it is the turn of the Yoruba, insisting that it is his time to become President of the country.
Tinubu had highlighted: “He tried the first time, he failed; the second time, he failed; the third, he failed. Since he became the President, I have never gotten ministerial slots; I didn’t collect any contract, and I have never begged for anything from him. It is the turn of Yoruba; it is my turn.
“He knew all the calculations then favoured us, that is why he wanted me as his vice, but I told him to let us build the party first … I told them that I have a candidate that is a Christian that I can nominate so that the party will not break.
“That was how I nominated Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, I surrendered my right to him. I was asked to submit three names – Yemi Cardozo, Wale Edun, and Yemi Osinbajo.”
