Presidency 203: Akpabio declares for APC ticket
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday declared for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpabio made the declaration on Wednesday afternoon in his country home, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. The former governor is making the declaration as the APC is preparing for its national convention in May to elect the party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 elections. The APC is selling the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the presidential ticket at N100 million.
Akpabio will be battling other aspirants for the APC presidential ticket. The aspirants include APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu, former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, among others.
