Reactions after Goodluck Jonathan said he will be neutral in the forthcoming election
Former president Goodluck Jonathan has stated that he will be neutral in the upcoming elections in 2023.
The former president made this statement on Wednesday during Bishop Matthew Kukah’s 70th birthday celebration and fundraiser for the Kukah School of Governance’s permanent campus in Abuja.
A few days after Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, visited him at his Abuja home, Mr. Jonathan’s position on the election was announced.
Again, we are faced with the opportunity of choosing our leaders, elections are coming up now— in fact, as we talked about elections, I realised that I did not recognize Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, and my good friend, Kashim Shettima.
“The election is a good opportunity for Nigerians to select whom they believe can rule this country. I decided to be politically neutral as a former president. I should be a bit reserved,” Mr. Jonathan said.
