Real Madrid unveil Mourinho as new head coach
José Mourinho has been officially unveiled as Real Madrid’s new head coach, returning to the Spanish giants 13 years after leaving the club.
The Portuguese manager was presented on Tuesday during a private ceremony at the boardroom of Ciudad Real Madrid, where he signed a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2029.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez welcomed Mourinho, while honorary president José Martínez Pirri also attended the ceremony. Mourinho was presented with a replica of the stadium, a watch and a shirt bearing his name.
Speaking after signing the contract, Mourinho described his return as a deeply emotional experience and said he regarded his appointment as a major responsibility.
“I feel this is a mission. It goes beyond words. I am here to help everyone become better and to create a culture of work, responsibility and ambition,” he said.
The 63-year-old also stressed his strong connection with the club and its supporters.
“I am a Madridista. I have always been, even since I left. I am one of you, Madridistas,” Mourinho said.
He also called on everyone at the club to embrace a collective sense of responsibility.
“I am here to work for Real Madrid. Everyone should follow this way. I want everyone who enters Valdebebas to feel it, that we are working for Real Madrid,” he added.
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning the LaLiga title, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup during his first spell.
His return has generated mixed reactions among supporters on social media, with some welcoming his appointment while others questioned whether he can avoid the controversies that have followed him at previous clubs.
Mourinho will now begin preparations for the new LaLiga campaign, with Real Madrid scheduled to face Espanyol in their opening league fixture on Saturday.
