The prize money to be received by Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid following their dramatic Copa del Rey final showdown has been disclosed.

Real Sociedad emerged champions after edging Atletico Madrid 4–3 in a penalty shoot-out, following a pulsating 2–2 draw at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville, Spain, on Saturday night.

The final burst into life almost immediately as Ander Barrenetxea handed Sociedad the lead inside the opening minute. Atletico Madrid responded through Ademola Lookman, who equalised for Diego Simeone’s side to bring the contest level.

Mikel Oyarzabal restored Sociedad’s advantage shortly afterwards, but Julian Alvarez struck in the second half to make it 2–2, forcing the encounter into penalties after regulation time ended without further goals.

In the decisive shoot-out, Sociedad held their nerve to clinch a 4–3 victory and secure the coveted Copa del Rey title.

According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, the Royal Spanish Football Federation will award Real Sociedad approximately €1.2 million in prize money for lifting the trophy.

Atletico Madrid, as runners-up, are set to receive €1 million for their efforts in reaching the final.

The financial reward adds further value to Sociedad’s triumph, capping off a memorable night in Seville with both silverware and a significant monetary boost.
