Reps. scold heads of federal agencies over ignoring invitations to NASS
Members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday scolded heads of federal agencies over the manners they undermine invitations to appear before the federal lawmakers in the National Assembly.
The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, Musa Abdullahi, at the resumed meeting of departments and agencies for the scrutiny of their finances, on Wednesday expressed concerns over the lethargy displayed by government agencies invited by the committee. He told heads of agencies to demonstrate a high sense of responsibility whenever they are invited for deliberations.
At the Committee on Wednesday, three of the 12 invited agencies were present at the start of deliberations.
Abdullahi decried that members of the committee forfeited their holidays by sitting to deliberate on national issues of concerns, adding that heads of agencies should take a cue from them.
He said that the committee might resort to taking sterner measures against recalcitrant agencies and their supervisors
