Rivers Rage: IPOB launches attack on security agencies, kills 8 officers, more
Eight security agents were gunned down on Saturday by hoodlums who raided security check points, including a JTF one, along the Port Harcourt-Owerri road in Rivers.
The attackers came through the bush in guerilla manner around 8pm, killing three soldiers, three customs officers, and two policemen.
Police authorities said the gunmen were members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
The check point along Airport Road Omagwa, belonged to the Joint Task Force (JTF) and was manned by nine policemen and two soldiers.
Burnt corpses were later recovered there.
At another checkpoint belonged to the Nigeria Customs Service at Isiokpo, and three officers were killed.
The hoodlums carted away the rifles of the security operatives and their patrol vans.
Another joint am has launched a manhunt for the hoodlums.
Rivers Gov Nyesom Wike has also ordered the security agencies in the state to fish out the attackers.
